Our 2012 Mexico housebuilding trip draws to a close. In the last few days we've fed the poor, done some touristy things, helped out at a kids party and continued to soak up the Mexican culture.
Feeding the poor was quite a confronting experience. We handed out over 100 sandwiches to homeless people living near the US/Mexico border. It was sobering to see the effects of drugs, poverty and mental illness. The experience was very powerful for a number on the team.
We also had a quieter, touristy day down the coast where we visited 'La Bufadora' a large blow hole south of Ensenada. We enjoyed a rendition of "La Bamba" at a local restaurant during lunch.
Yesterday we helped out at a kids party. We went to a hilly part of Tijuana and helped some clowns entertain children with stories, games and songs. We also did some facepainting and we had another pinata. It was wonderful to see the 'real' Mexico and meet some locals.

Today we returned to the USA and we're about to conclude the trip. The housebuilding trip has been a wonderful experience for us all. We've had a great time, learned a lot and been challenged in many ways.
