“Customer first”: an actuarial perspective

Corinne Glasby shares how actuaries can bring integrity under challenging situations.

9 Aug 2019, 12.40pm-1.20pm

The recent Royal Commissions on aged care, banking and financial services and institutional responses to child sexual abuse have each explored areas where governors, employees and volunteers have allowed the interests of organisations and providers to override the needs of customers. This has resulted in outcomes for many individuals which did not match the values for which the organisations stood or the promises they (implicitly or explicitly) made to customers or the community.

Corinne Glasby has undertaken a wide range of senior executive roles within financial service organisations as well as serving on the board of BaptistCare NSW&ACT, a major faith-based provider of care and accommodation services, for 11 years.  Currently working as a Chief Risk Officer, Corinne interacts with directors, senior management colleagues and professional staff, ensuring effective risk based decisions are made, including by providing challenge to ensure a customer perspective.

Corinne will share some of her personal experiences and learnings from her career to date, discussing how she brings integrity both to the organisation’s goals and her Christian faith in addressing challenging situations.
