City Bible Forum in Perth held a series of lunchtime meetings reviewing modern blockbusters. The Matrix, Avatar, Twilight, Inception and Hereafter all got an airing, as did the question, "What would Jesus have to say about these movies?" With a Christian in the hot seat we thought through the world views expressed by modern directors in the stories they've told. We compared that world view with the one passed on by Jesus and saw he has as much to say today as he did 2,000 years ago. To view the sessions you can use the links below.
On 22nd July we were privileged to have Oxford Professor, John Lennox, present an evening lecture 'God's Undertaker: has science buried God?' Over 300 people attended Professor Lennox's presentation. The lecture was followed by an extended question time where Professor Lennox dealt with a variety of questions ranging from 'How comfortable were you posing next to a T-Rex skeleton?' (in an earlier debate with Richard Dawkins) to 'Who made God?' The evening was a tremendous success and we anticipate releasing a DVD of the evening at a future point.

On the evening of August 9, around 130 supporters of the City Bible Forum gathered at the Hotel Tivoli on Pirie Street to celebrate the past year of City Bible Forum in Adelaide. The highlights of the night was that we had people from all over Adelaide, we heard from people who have seen exciting things happen in their workplaces as they talked about Jesus to their friends, and we heard an inspiring talk from Ian Powell on the joy in God's heart when people return to him. If you missed it this year make sure you get in early to register for next year!
