Mexico house building begins

Our Mexico house construction has begun! This morning we arrived at our construction site and we were greeted by a concrete slab and an eager family.
We set to work constructing our house. We were ably directed by the expert foremen, Hector and Pablo (Paul). We hammered away and soon we erected some walls.

Some on our team hadn't really ever hammered a nail before, but pretty soon we were all expert in using a nail gun, hammering, and painting.
It was also wonderful to meet the family we are building for. We are building for Edgar and Sandra and their three children. They live off $2.77 per person per day and currently live in a dirt floor shack. It is really eye-opening to see how this new house will dramatically lift their standard of living. Even though the house is far from being complete, the family are planning on staying the night in their new house. It is so wonderful to make a huge difference to this family's life.

We return tomorrow to continue our work.
