Mexico house completed

We've been very busy the last couple of days here in Mexico. We have finished building the house. Yesterday we worked very hard. We finished putting shingles on the roof, which was a little precarious at times, but there were no injuries and the roof was finished before lunch.
We also put the interior walls up and plastered away. It was a bit messy at times, but everyone did a good job.

This morning we returned to the house and sanded back the plaster and painted on two coats. A white undercoat and then the final colours. The family chose pink, purple and green for the interior colours - Mexicans sure love their bright colours.

Then at around 2pm this afternoon, the house was completed. We furnished it, dedicated it and handed the keys to Sandra, Edgar and their family. We then had a pinata and some cake to celebrate the completion of the house. Our team had done a marvellous job and we've had a lot of fun along the way.

This morning I had a chance to look through the old house that Edgar and Sandra and their family lived in. It had a filthy and dusty dirt floor, and the structure could be only described as a shack. There were holes in the walls and roof. It would be a very challenging place to raise a family. It's wonderful that we can give this family the gift of a solid, brand new house. It will make such a big difference to their lives. This is a photo of their old house and you can see the new house in the background.
