3 shocking facts about Christmas

The third one will shock you (yes - shameless clickbait!)

We all know the Christmas story. Baby Jesus in a manger. With cows, donkeys, and sheep. We’ve heard it a bazillion times already. What more is there to be said that hasn’t already been said?

Sam Chan explores how...

1. Jesus became one of us - and so affirms us and our dignity

2. King Herod was evil - so there is such a thing as good and evil

3.The line between good and evil runs through our own hearts

Is conversion a dirty word?

Conversion has a bad name. It smacks of superiority; that my way is better than your way. And yet, we all do it – eagerly!

“I like country music,” said my friend, before giving me a look I see regularly after someone tells me they like country music. It’s defiance mixed with pride, and a good measure of trepidation. And not too soon after it comes, “It’s not boring, a lot of country music is quite upbeat, like rock!”, “Elvis was a country singer before he did rock”, “You like Johnny Cash? He’s country”. Then, songs are played and I get that sensation – Uh oh! Is my friend trying to convert me?

DISTINCTIVE: Life@Work Conference

The power of an attractive life in the workplace
Friday March 8th, 6.45pm to Saturday March 9th, 1.15pm

"Beauty of life causes strangers to join our ranks. We don't just talk about great things - we live them" (Christian, AD 250)

Historians say the key ingredient to the explosive growth of the church after Jesus' death and resurrection was the distinctive lives of believers. 'The beautiful life' they lived bore a powerful and attractive witness to the difference the Christian faith makes for good.
