The end of our dreamworld?

Brisbane

In light of the events at Dreamworld, we are reminded that nowhere and no aspect of our lives is immune from the power of death

Happiness. It's what we long for, it’s what we search for. Happiness: in our jobs, with our families, in our homes and especially in our leisure time. Happiness is the tagline for Dreamworld. You go to Dreamworld expecting a day of adrenaline loving happiness. We expect kids will come off rides with big smiles on their faces, wanting to go again. We love the sense of fear as we slowly go up the rise at the beginning of the roller coaster, ready to hurtle down the other side. We challenge each other to raise our arms and scream for fun.

Turning on the Christmas Light

Why Christmas is worth celebrating
Sunday August 25th, 6.19am to Friday November 25th, 2.20pm
Alt

The first Christmas candles were hung to remember stars that lit the way to Jesus' birth.

Every Christmas Brisbane CBD is illuminated by thousands of lights however, amidst all the shopping and activities, it's easy to miss the birthday boy, Jesus, who the Bible describes as 'the true light that gives light to everyone'.

Join us for our final City Forum of the year and discover how God is still turning on the Christmas light today. Our guest speaker is William Taylor, from St Helen's Bishopsgate in London.

More than ... Love, Money, Power

We know life is more than love, money and power. And yet, we often live as if they are the sum of life. It could be said, we idolise them.

One writer has put it like this,

What is so important that I cannot live without?’' When anything in life is an absolute requirement for your happiness and self-worth, it is essentially an ‘idol,’ something you are actually worshipping.'

Have we lost our shared humanity?

Brisbane

We are so easily offended. Is this because we have lost our shared humanity?

"I'm offended." So the sign has to go.

And so the sign went, for the company requested that the Christian take down their sign inviting people to pray. It was a bold sign, but hardly offensive. It invited people who followed Jesus to pray. It didn't ask anyone else to do anything. It didn't condemn any other beliefs or ideas. It just invited Christian people to meet with Christian people to pray.

This is the new era where the following prevails.

"I'm offended by...(pretty much anything that I don't like) and the offence must be removed."
