The Word one to one training with Richard Borgonon

Learn how to help your friend meet Jesus in the pages of the Bible in the least weird way possible.

It's getting harder and harder to invite people to church, or to an evangelistic course. Rarely will someone hear a call to repent and believe in Jesus in one sitting. People do not know enough about Jesus to make up their minds, they need a lot more time engaging with Jesus before they can say yes to a course. How can Christians help their friends meet Jesus in a meaningful way?

The Word one-to-one is an excellent way to help your friend meet Jesus in the pages of the Bible. Learn from its co-creator, Richard Borgonon, how to best use this fantastic resource.

Word One-to-One Training

Helping people meet Jesus in the pages of the Bible
Thursday February 22nd, 1.30pm to 2.20pm

Be equipped and inspired by Richard Borgonon, an international insurance executive who spends half his week reading the Bible with people one-to-one.

He will share his experience and explain how to use his Word one-to-one studies in John's gospel.

We will be running two identical training sessions - one at lunch time and one in the early evening. We'd love you to register for one of the sessions below, and to spread the word by inviting Christian friends and colleagues.

Hope for our City - 2018 launch

Wednesday February 7th, 1.30pm to 2.20pm

Christians have a message of great hope for our city: Jesus.

Jesus transforms lives, work places and work practices. Come and hear how we can work together to reach our city with this message of hope.

The apostle Peter challenges us to always be ready to explain our hope in Jesus.

"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have" 1 Peter 3:15

The difference hope makes

Hope can change the future, and it can change our experience of now

In Shawshank Redemption, Red tells Andy - 'Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.' Andy's reply decades later is 'Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things.'

Which is it? Do we need to hope? Or should we give up on hope?

In eastern thought hope is the illusion that keeps us suffering, western thought holds out hope for hope. But why what difference does hope make?

The Difference

Tuesday November 21st, 1.30pm to 2.20pm

Hope can fuel change. Hope can change the future. The future can be different because of hope. Hope keeps our eyes on the light when all about us is darkness. But not everything we hope in does this.

Come along and consider the difference hope makes.

We'd love you to join us whether you are a believer, secular, sceptical, from another religion, or just curious.

City Forums run as a short presentation followed by discussion. Come just to listen or come to be part of the discussion.

Our speaker is Glenn Hohnberg.

Help us climb our mountain

City Bible Forum exists because of the generosity of God through his people supporting our vision to reach the world through the workplace with the good news of Jesus.

The support of individual Christians has seen many people in our city meeting Jesus in the pages of the Bible.

But we need your help.

We have a significant financial mountain to climb before the end of the year if our work is to continue. We need to raise $70,000 to keep reaching Brisbane with the great news of Jesus.

Will you join us as we climb?
