Six Geese a Laying - Prickly People | City Bible Forum

Geese seem mostly known for their negative traits: They aren’t warm and friendly, get near them and they will hiss at you. But their eggs are bigger and also have more beneficial nutrients and vitamins in comparison to chicken eggs. In some ways a prickly goose that makes a valuable contribution might remind us of some of our colleagues and family (or even ourselves). At Christmas time God comes to us, who have been prickly and difficult towards Him, and we cannot claim we’ve laid a golden egg! Christ has been sympathetic and shown us great love.

1 Peter 3:8-9 ‘Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.’

How could I be a blessing to those not acting nicely towards me? Is there anyone I know for whom Christmas is a difficult time? How could I be sympathetic, compassionate and loving towards that person?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your graciousness and love to me, that even though I rebelled against you, and I can be difficult person too; you have greatly loved me and sent Jesus to die so I could have a restored relationship with you. Please help me to be a beacon of love to those around me, particularly towards those who find Christmas a difficult time of year. May they see past the hurt to the great news of Jesus that brings hope and healing. In His name I pray, Amen
