There is a sense of fulfilment in the lives of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and crew as they perform their duties where no-one else has gone before on the USS Enterprise. The challenge for this space travelling team as their current journey goes into the third year, from top to bottom they have to consider if there is something more to life. Kirk and Spock (Zachary Quinto) are on the precipice of life altering decisions that will have implications for their professional and personal lives. While wrestling through their decisions, the legendary ship docks at the newest space station at the edge of Federation space. During this short respite, the station leadership receives a distress call from beyond the nebula of Federation space that would require a rescue effort. The Enterprise crew is enlisted for this new venture to find a lost ship and crew. With the anticipation of something exciting and new they cross the line into this uncharted part of the galaxy and immediately the Enterprise is attacked and nearly destroyed. A vicious leader who is in search of the ultimate weapon and has an uncanny ability to anticipate the plans and movements of the Enterprise crew and the Federation. The crew must work with other space refugees on the planet to rescue the remaining crew, deter Krall from his savage plans for the universe and attempt to escape this desolate planet and get home.
