The Hook of Loyalty That Draws You In

Why do we choose to be loyal to anyone?
Topics

In the film The Covenant by Guy Ritchie, we see a story of the sacrifice two soldiers are willing to offer for one another.

One scene describes the loyalty between these two men as being a hook that they cannot be released from.

In a short series of dialogue, we can see how these men are able to embody this trait with few words, but with convincing results. It begs the question:

Why do we choose to be loyal to anyone?

This human need is rooted in wanting to place an implicit trust in someone, knowing that this loyalty will be reciprocated. Yet, the Bible plies a deeper meaning to the idea of loyalty. What can be seen in the Bible is that God is the only one entirely loyal.

He is faithful, even when His followers are faithless.

It's good to remember that with humanity, loyalty can be fleeting, but with God, we can find absolute loyalty.
