How to have a better conversation

We have lost the art of healthy debates
Topics

I suspect I’m not the only one who is saddened by the nature of public debate in Australia today

The kind of polarising and divisive attacks we often see, especially around politics

As one commentator recently lamented “Our is a politics without grace”

Isn’t it time for better conversations?

But how?

We’ll only learn to listen to those we disagree with if we believe they are valuable in spite of their opinions

For me the Christian faith helps me do that

It teaches all people are made in the image of God

So all people have profound dignity

I might not agree with you, but when I remember the incredible dignity you have that will help me to stop, listen, and respect your view

And that will go a long way towards us having better conversations
