Justice and mercy

The Bible's dilemma is how can God be both just and merciful

The claim of Christianity is that Jesus is the promised Messiah or king whom the Jewish scriptures anticipated.

The historical context and narrative of the Bible sets it apart from other religious texts. The God of the Bible deals in time and space in a way that other deities do not. The connections between the Jewish scriptures and the life of Jesus reveal a divine plan with its central concerns of justice, mercy and hope which run deep in the Biblical story.

Did the Old Testament really anticipate the coming of Jesus? Was Jesus conscious of these connections? Could the fulfilment of these prophecies have been humanly orchestrated?
