The Light That Saves

Guests who prefer the dark

It's nearing the end of summer in Australia and on the really hot days, I've noticed some guests in the house.

One of these unwelcome critters is the Aussie cockroach. Rarely do you see them in the daylight. These creatures prefer the dark. If you turn the light on, they pause for a second and flee the scene, making them impossible to catch!

The Bible describes the relationship between sinners and a holy God in this way. God's light and truth exposes all of our mistakes and the worst parts of ourselves, so we prefer staying in the dark, refusing to be exposed.

However, God offers us Jesus as the light of this world.

Jesus will expose our brokenness, but he will also be the one to save us from it. Hear His words:

"I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in Me may not remain in darkness."

Jesus is the one who not only saves us from the darkness, but will keep us in the light also.

Jesus is the light that saves.
