Megatrends

American baseball star "Yogi" Berra famously said:

"The future ain't what it used to be."

This might well be the case with recent work on "megatrends". Megatrends are overarching trends in our society which will impact the future of our world. There are a variety of megatrends, including:

• Climate change
• Heightened pressure on food, water and energy resources
• An escalating health imperative
• Geopolitical shifts, and an increase in global defence spending
• Increasing digital technology adoption and the rise of artificial intelligence

These megatrends will impact our world in a variety of ways,

they might be a source of hope or anxiety to us.

But regardless of how our world is shaped by these megatrends, the Christian message offers comfort that

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus is an unchanging certainty in an uncertain future.
