The origin of the universe

Where did all this come from?
Topics

Looking up on a dark cloudless night and seeing thousands of stars, prompts the big question: where did all this come from?

To answer this question, there are actually only three options:

  • The universe created itself
  • The universe was always there, or
  • The universe was created

Now, the idea that the universe created itself seems nonsensical - it’s not clear how anything can create itself.

Secondly, modern scientific discoveries point towards the universe having a beginning and hence not being eternal.

Which leads us to just one reasonable, rational explanation - that the universe was created - by God.

This accords with Hebrews 11:3 “by faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible”.
