Satan and evil in the world

"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist."

Is there a spiritual realm with a great evil leader? It seems so if we take Jesus at this word. However, the intriguing and troubling part of this is the way humanity is caught up in the power of this evil being. His influence is different than what you'd expect but perhaps worse so because of this.
