Charles Blondin was a famous tightrope walker. In his most daring stunts,
he walked many times across a narrow rope way above the thundering Niagara Falls.
Huge crowds looked on with shock and awe.
Then one day, Blondin walked across pushing a wheelbarrow and the crowd "Ooooohed" and "Aaaaahed"! Then he asked the crowd, "Do you believe I can carry a person across in this wheelbarrow?" The crowd shouted: Yes, they believed! It was then that Blondin posed the question:
"Then who will get in the wheelbarrow?"
This describes faith in Jesus. Faith in Jesus means more than just believing He existed or facts about His life.
Faith in Jesus means trusting Him—believing in Him—just like getting in that wheelbarrow.
And Jesus promises, as Charles Blondin did—that if we trust in Him, He will keep us safe in His wheelbarrow as we navigate the tightrope of life.
