True New Year's Rest

i love how everything's a bit slower at the start of the year

I love how everything is a bit slower at the start of the year—no racing around with kids in the morning to get them to school; weekend sport is having a break; and many of my colleagues are on leave, which means fewer emails!

But of course, things will inevitably get busy again, and waiting till the next slow season doesn't really help.

Which is why the words of Jesus about rest and busyness are so comforting:

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

We might not feel all that weary at this time of the year, or maybe we do. Either way, when weariness inevitably comes, why not consider Jesus?

He offers us rest, not just from the weariness of life; but as He goes on to say...

the weariness we feel right down in our soul. And rest from that kind of weariness does last forever.
