White Rose
Life during the Holocaust of World War II was very dangerous, as Adolf Hitler and the Nazis set about to annihilate the Jewish people. Many people accepted Hitler's murderous campaign. But a few, very brave people resisted.
One such group was a small band of students called the White Rose.
They conducted an anonymous campaign opposing the tyranny of the Nazis. One of the key members of the White Rose group was Sophie Scholl, whose Christian faith motivated her to bravely resist.
Her faith first gave her the conviction to 'give justice to the weak and afflicted'.
She saw the injustices committed by the Nazi regime and felt called to oppose the Germans' gross mistreatment of Jews. But her faith also gave her great strength and an anchor when she was put on trial, and then subsequently executed for her opposition.
