They said it would just be ‘keyhole’ surgery. But when I looked at the scar it seemed that they’d used the key from Long Bay Jail to get in! Talking about keys, I’ve no idea whether they still do it – and what the significance of it was. But back in the day they used to give a large ‘key’ at your 21st Birthday. The more cynical amongst us might wrily note that this key certainly doesn’t seem to have unlocked our HECS debt! But being given the keys of the kingdom of heaven – just imagine that!
