Every lawyer knows that the sharpest intellects can still be blinded by their own assumptions. We spend our lives weighing evidence, testing witnesses, and demanding proof, yet we don’t often submit our own assumptions and core beliefs to the same rigorous examination.
When an eminent member of the religious establishment came to Jesus under the cover of darkness, he brought a mind full of legal and moral certainties. And in his encounter with Jesus, he found his own assumptions and core beliefs challenged and confounded.
At our final Sydney CBD City Legal meeting for 2026, we will reflect on this famous interaction between Jesus and Nicodemus and discover how its extraordinary message challenges all of us to rethink where we stand—in relation to God and the renewal of our lives.
